The world’s largest Christmas project is underway.   Operation Christmas Child started in the early 90’s.

“It’s about kids helping kids. It starts out with an empty shoe box, you pack simple things that most people take for granted, like toothpaste, school supplies and small toys. They are wrapped up and hand delivered to millions of needy children around the world”.

Tonja Medbery is an area coordinator in Wildomar, she says they hope to collect 19,000 gift-filled shoe boxes in the Inland Empire. (U .S.A)  The scheme also operates in the UK & other countries of the world.

Because the gifts are hand delivered, distribution calls for a mix of transportation including trains, buses, helicopters, donkeys and dog sleds.

The national collection week runs through November 24th. Local drop off locations for the USA can be found at www.samaritanspurse.org
